Scattered Stones by Jason Tako

This tree, actually the lighting on this tree, captured my attention this last Autumn while I was out painting near Ricketts Glen, PA. I created a quick field study of it before the light faded too much. Back in the studio I took some liberties with the shape of the trunk and the leaves. In the actual tree many of the leaves had already fallen off, so I put them back on where I thought they would look good. I also added the stones to imply a stone wall that has been falling apart over the years. Nature, in a way, seems to always and eventually triumph over man's ingenuity.
