Hand-painted stole

Here's a stole I hand-painted for a friend.  "Mary and Joseph". Notice the pistil parts are three nails in the center of the lily.  His church is very contemporary, and the rose window is one big rose! This could be for any Marian day or Feast of St. Joseph, weddings, Easter, Christmas...  It was a true joy creating it - -  a new artistic avenue?
The stole was sewn by Junice at www.junice.com

Mary did you know,

Beautiful song, some of the lyrics are a bit problematic, but it inspired this piece nevertheless.
"Mary did you know that your baby boy would calm the storm with his hand?"

Unregarded - The Witch Tree

A landmark tree on the Monterey peninsula, sadly lost to a storm many years ago. But it directed my thoughts to beauty and humility.

“He will watch this servant of his appear among us, unregarded as a brushwood shoot, as a plant in waterless soil; no stateliness here, no majesty, no beauty, as we gaze upon him, to win our hearts.” Isaiah 53:2

The Road to Walsingham

I recently did a banner, above, and a cover image, below, for the Road to Walsingham podcasts of the various interesting lectures given at Our Lady of Walsingham Church, my old parish and the seat of the US Anglican Ordinariate.

Epiphany coloring page, colored

Merry Christmas as we come to the end of this year! This year, for me, has been dominated by the project of the Liturgical Calendar Coloring Book, drawing pages for every single saint's day. Now it's complete I've started coloring some of the pages. I colored this one with acrylic wash, ink, and the classic coloring book medium, Crayola crayons; and used the picture for my Christmas cards this year.

May you all have a blessed New Year!

Clare's Costly Cookie

I am thrilled to announce the publication of the first book illustrated by me: Clare's Costly Cookie by Julie Kelly!

It's a story about a nine-year-old girl who loves cookies and finds her siblings annoying sometimes, so she talks to Jesus. The dialogue narrative becomes an introduction to Christian meditation for children.

Elevation

This is my Christmas card picture for this year, and I also tried to enter it in that Catholic Digest contest back at the time, but the email address didn't seem to be working.

Merry Christmas!
