Lord of the Rings sketches

If I'm not mistaken, there are some Tolkien fans here.  Hope you like these interpretations.  The dwarf is Thorin and the Troll drawings are from The Hobbit.  I had posted these some time ago on my blog, and forgot about them.  Just for fun.

 

I've always thought it would be neat to see classical style paintings from various parts of the trilogy (much like those of the French academies in the late nineteenth century).  Traditionally they always have such an old timeless feel, I felt it would make an interesting marriage of story and image.  Most imagery you see today has a movie-Hollywood feel… which is good in it's own way, but…
