Another Annunciation Sketch


I did this sketch a few months ago, not long after my last post on the same subject .  I haven't had much time to take it beyond the preliminary stages, but thought I might share it anyway.

Wow! This is very nice work. graphite, when used like this, is one of the most sublime mediums ever used by artists. Thanks for the inspiration.

Many thanks, everyone! this is an original piece - I made some small maquettes using sculpey and many drawings before this.

For the fabric--is that based on a model, or from imagination? I've always had a hard time with fabric, so I'd like to know!

Thanks John! I did have a model to get a loose idea of the folds and wrinkles... also a lot references to the works of 19th century artists.
