Janet Erskine Stuart

Started another year of teaching at Sacred Heart this year. We started things with a beautiful prayer by Janet Erskine Stuart. I'm not surprised she was a poet. I just wanted to share a couple of line:
In the name of God who shares divinity with us.....
We teach by what we are.
If we are well penetrated by the thought and ideal which we wish to form in our students, it will come out unconsciously in our work.

Beautifully Drawn, Eric. Especially the cross in relief.

Your loose lines are nice enough that I would enjoy a whole book illustrated this way.

Thanks Ben! I love being able to stretch the way I draw in different directions. I hope you're still loving Italy!

Eric, this is a beautiful prayer. How true. The drawing is so nice and fresh with so much emotion.

Also, I am really an amazed by your work. I checked out your website and ...wow! Your characters come alive and are so interesting. You must know of my brother-in-law, Bill Mayer. He is an illustrator in Decatur, Ga. He has won many awards, illustrated children books and has quite an extensive resume like you. You are in for a treat if you haven’t seen his work. Here’s his website: http://thebillmayer.com/

Thank you so much Maggie! I do know Bill Mayer's work, though I didn't know his name. That squat bespectacled character in underwear was everywhere. I love his work, it's wonderful.

Eric, Are you teaching illustration or religion at Sacred Heart? How is your class going?

Beautiful sketch, love how you made the cross by drawing around it rather than drawing it. Love that. The facial structure is well done and communicates her personality well.

Well done!
