Adam's Grave

Greetings!

Here's another surpassingly strange painting. The theme here is a traditional medieval one...that the Archangel Michael had Eve plant a sapling on the grave of Adam. That sapling grew into a tree in Solomon's court, and was eventually cut down and discarded. However, the trunk did not decay, and it eventually was used to fashion the Cross.
