Lovely work!! Reminds me a little bit of Howard Pyle's illustrations. What type of ink do you use on vellum?

While my style isn't directly modeled on Pyle, I grew up with a very beautifully illustrated book done by him of the Adventures of Robin Hood and have always loved that sort of quasi-woodcut black and white style of illustration.

As to the ink, I use micron pens in various widths (these days 005, 01, 02, and 8 for the thick outlines.) I'm not sure of the sort of ink that comes in them, though. It's supposed to be archival quality and waterproof.

Vellum in this context is what architects usually call vellum, which is really in this case rag translucent marker paper.

Nicely rendered. S. Victoria is particularly nice. you're using the various pen widths well (I use microns a lot). Do you do much of a sketch underneath?

Pyle is really one of the greats! I have an old copy of the Merry Adventures of Robin Hood that I keep at my desk the decorative bits and the full illustrations work together to make a very nice book.

These are quite beautiful. Reminiscent of Mucha and Durer.
