+JMJ+ Good day to you all. I'm new to your group. Here is some of my work:
I grew up Presbyterian, but then one day in music school, I discovered Gregorian chant. Then I discovered Byzantine icons. Then I discovered the Eucharist and couldn't stay away from Catholic churches. A pile of books later, I became Catholic. This conversion has touched every aspect of life, especially art and music. I'm learning about iconography from the Prosopon School. They are wonderful. They teach you how to mix paint like the ancient Egyptians, how to gild like they did in the Middle Ages, how to conceive of color like Rublev, and it's all just one lovely adventure (especially attempting to paint with messy egg yolk). The first image is an icon of Archangel Raphael and Tobias. The second image is an illumination of a chant composed by St. Hildegard von Bingen. The third image is an oil painting of Blessed Charles de Foucauld. He is a beautiful saint, and I love his writings about the Gospels. The fourth image is an illumination of the Holy Family and text from Proverbs 31. I enjoy seeing your artwork and look forward to our growth as Catholic artists. Please pray for me, and I pray for you. In Corde Jesu et Mariae, elizabeth
