Jason Tako-Memories, oil on linen, 18"x24"

I called this painting Memories because I learned that even though its a historical house (some Civil War troops stole horses from the barn during the Battle of Gettysburg), it could be torn down by an out-of-town developer. The people who lived here posted on my blog stories of Christmas dinners, Sunday evenings and selling sweet corn. It would be very sad if it gets torn down, but I'm glad I got to paint it before that happens.

You've been posting some amazing work here, Jason.
Please keep it up! Do you set up your easel in the snow?

Ben. Yes I set up in the snow. I usually do a small field study in oil outside en plein air, I will also take photographs. The field study gives me the correct colors and values and the photos give me the details and help me clean up any drawing errors I may have made on the field study. Painting in the snow can be wonderful and very challenging at times.
