Oil Painting

This is a painting I finished recently, and was wondering what everyone thinks of titling it "Courage" or perhaps "Fortitude?"  Using a more symbolic title seems good to me somehow.

Originally when sketching it I was calling Young Queen but the further it went the less it fit.  Hope you like it.

This is gorgeous. It reminds me of Bougereau's Young Shepherdess.

Very nice. "Justice" is usually depicted with a sword in addition to the scales.

I was hoping you'd post this here too.

Thank you very much Diana! THanks Deacon Lawrence and Ben. do you think "Justice" would be good? would it work without the scales? that title sounds good to me

I think "Justice" would work without the scales. I always like titles that make you do a doubletake and re-examine the picture. "Justice" does that.

Thank you for putting this up. My daughter and I both enjoyed it very much.

This is beautiful. Her eyes are so deep. I like Justice because this isn't your typical portrayal of her.

This is so, so beautiful- we keep coming back to look at it. My daughters have long curly hair and are rather fond of swords, so naturally we just love it. One daughter said it reminds her of The Accolade. Have you settled on a title? 'Strength and Beauty' comes to mind and 'Fortitude' is lovely as well. Any plans for sale or reproductions?

That's wonderful Kimberlee, and I'm so glad your daughters like it! I think I'm going to call this one 'Resolve'

I'm working on a larger copy of this painting, 28" by 36" and it's coming along pretty well. Prints aren't off the table :)
