Call for Artists: The Creed in Art

From the Foundation for Sacred Arts comes this announcement:

The Foundation for Sacred Arts is pleased to announce its third traveling exhibition, I Believe: The Creed in Art. I Believe will feature outstanding recent works of religious art which draw their inspiration from one or more elements of the Apostles’ and Nicene Creeds.

Exhibition Theme
In this exhibition, the Foundation is seeking artworks which explore and proclaim the fundamentals of the Christian faith as professed in the Apostles’ and Nicene Creeds.

The theme is not intended to impose strict constraints on the artist’s creativity, nor should it suggest that we expect artworks which present a compilation of the entire Creed; it need only reflect a single aspect of the Creed.

We hope especially that artists will use this opportunity to portray themes of the Creed which have been less frequently explored in art.

We have chosen this particular theme because of the rich artistic possibilities it offers, and encourage artists to pray with and meditate on the Creed in order to let it inspire them.

Click here for the rules and a submission form. The deadline is December 29, 2009, and there is a total of $8,000 in price money being awarded.
