More Puppets

Awhile back I posted one version of an illustration I'd did for the SCBWI bulletin. Since the bulletin came in the mail, I'll go ahead and post this (the one I ended up submitting).

In retrospect, I think I like the puppets better in this one, but prefer the expression of the girl in the other illustration.

Oh man, Abigail! I hate to say it, but i like the original version a lot more. Both the puppets and, especially, the girl.

But this version is nice too. Did they accept it?

Here's another vote for the original version... those puppets were sublime!

but as Ben said, this version is good too.

Just out of curiosity, what is the SCBWI?

Haha... I actually like the first version better (and a vote from my mom too). The second was an attempt to create something that would appeal to a broader audience. That said I think the old adage, "Draw what you know," is true (the first girl is just a lot more fun and reminds me of my own childhood).

The second illustration did run in the March/April bulletin so that was pretty cool.
